Summer is upon us, and that means we are all in search of that perfect summer glow. But to get a true glow, you need more than just a few hours in the sun. That true glow comes from what you put on and into your body. 

Ever wonder what are some best practices to achieve inner + outer glow?

Today, I am interviewing Jacqueline Bourne, who has taken that knowledge and turned it into a lifestyle and shares it with the  world. She believes that clean ingredients, food and products lead to a clean body. Her website is full of clean ingredient recipes that not only look and taste amazing, but are also amazing for your body. (Personally, we can't wait to try the Hummin' Hummus next.)

In this interview, you'll learn more about how Jacqueline's tips to achieve the perfect glow, both inside and out, every day.  She even included an amazing smoothie recipe you'll want to try below!

 

Hi Jacqueline! Thank you for taking the time to speak with us about "go-to glows"! Can you first tell us about yourself?

My name is Jacqueline Bourne. I am a homeschool mama of 4 boys, military spouse, health motivator, organic influencer, autodidactic entrepreneur, and cane sugar-free innovator.

Okay so going back to these "go-to glows" - tell us what that even means.

Go-to glows are the everyday foods and beauty products that encourage a healthy, beautiful, vibrant body inside and out.

What we put into and onto our bodies are so important! What are some of these magical foods that can be used to achieve a healthy, glowing skin? 

When wanting to achieve glowing skin you must eat vibrant foods that are full of life. We are what we eat, and we are what we digest. Our skin and body become a reflection of the foods we choose to consume. You want to eat organic foods that are alive and brimming with gorgeous hues. Stunning purple cabbage is full of phenomenal plant compounds and antioxidants that guard against cellular damage, and is a bountiful giver in a sulfur-rich compound called sulforaphane.

Studies have shown sulforaphane to protect against cancer, maintain a healthy heart, and reduce inflammation. Rainbow Chard is one of the most incredibly structured, naturally gorgeous, dark leafy greens available. A nutritional powerhouse ready to go to work for you and fight for your health and beauty, it is bursting with minerals like potassium, calcium and magnesium essential for building strong bones. Sweet Potatoes promote a happy and healthy gut. Gut health is key to beautiful skin. Studies have found that antioxidants in purple sweet potatoes encourage the growth of healthy gut bacteria like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium that lower the risk of irritable bowel syndrome. What do all of the above have in common? Vitamin C! Vitamin C plays a leading role in the quest for inner and outer beauty. Next time you're shopping, shop by color, choose the most vibrant colors available, and really stop and appreciate all those natural occurring pigments that can only come from nature and its Creator. When you are cooking or prepping these foods, really pause and admire the beauty of the structure these fruits and vegetables possess. It's quite breathtaking when you really look at the beauty within. Just think, all that beauty will nourish your beauty.
 

Thank you so much for that amazing list! I have to ask, out of all of those foods, what are your top three favorites and why?

Wild blueberries because they are a heavy metal detoxifier. We are exposed to toxins on a daily basis; in the air we breath, the stores we shop, and the everyday items we touch. Rainbow Chard because it offers an array of health benefits and it's just so beautiful to look at. Flax seeds because they are loaded with nutrients, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids! I eat all the above daily in a smoothie! 

I am certainly ALL about smoothies. What is your favorite organic recipe for a glow-within smoothie?

Good-to-Glow Smoothie with organic ingredients:

+ 1 cup frozen wild blueberries
+ 1 cup frozen mixed berries
+ 1 cup rainbow chard
+ 4 ice cubes (optional)
+ 1 or 2 cup(s) of water (more water makes a thinner smoothie)
+ 1/8 cup whole flax seeds
+ 1 tsp camu-camu powder

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high speed until well blended. Pour in a tall 32oz mason jar with a stainless steel or glass straw and enjoy! The secret to this Good-to-Glow smoothie is its Vitamin C! Vitamin C is essential for collagen building, immune boosting, and skin repair! Start your mornings a little brighter and healthier!

Wow, thanks for sharing that recipe with us today! I'll definitely enjoy making one soon - and hopefully some of the readers will too. We talked early about how what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put into our bodies. Can you share a little more about this?

Just as you wouldn't pour soda into a fish tank, wash your windows with mud, or put sand in your gas tank the same applies to your body inside and out. Your body is a perfectly designed machine operating at its optimum when given the correct foods to thrive and flourish. If you feed your body the wrong ingredients it will start failing you. The same also applies to what is being placed on your skin; your skin is a beautiful and delicate sponge soaking up whatever is placed on it. It's crucial that harmful toxins are not filling up your pores and absorbing into your bloodstream and entering your body by ways of harmful lotions, makeups, and cosmetics. I was so excited to have found Roses and Azaleas’ products because they are completely safe, non-toxic, and organic. The exact ingredients you want to be using on your body to promote health and beauty.

A lot of modern women like myself live very busy lives. For the times when they just can't even, what are some quick meals or foods that can be prepared in maybe less than 10 minutes?

Avocado toast is one of my family's favorite quick meals. All you need is Ezekiel 7 sprouted grains bread -- toasted, with a little mustard, and slices of tomato and avocado. Drizzle with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper and you have yourself a meal in under 10 minutes. Serve with a side salad (fresh squeezed lemon/lime or orange for dressing) and apple slices, and you're all set.

I know that you LOVE our Face Serum. Can you elaborate on what you've loved about our face serum?

Any other tips and tricks you'd like to share with us for achieving healthy, glowing skin?

Foods to consider cutting out of your diet to increase your inner and outer beauty are processed foods, fast foods, added ingredients like natural and artificial flavors, food coloring, cane sugar, gluten (unless sprouted or fermented), dairy, eggs, pork and red meats. Remember you are what you eat, what you eat eats, and what you digest. What are you eating? Build your body with the best organic materials possible!

Everyone's bodies are a little different especially if they have Autoimmune Disease(s). But in general, with everything we've discussed today, would you say that most people can try these tips and tricks or only folks with specific skin types?

Yes, everything I've mentioned is Autoimmune friendly. Unless they have certain food allergies. I personally have autoimmune issues due to breast implant illness.
