Transparency | Minimalistic + Holistic | Sustainability | Cruelty-Free
Roses and Azalea provides the health-conscious, busy Modern Woman with more sustainable, minimalistic, and exceptional ingredients and formulations than any other personal care and beauty company. We do this by creating high-performing, multi-tasking formulations with organic botanicals and ingredients that heal and nourish the skin, designing luxury and eco-friendly packaging, and committing to be cruelty-free while making social impact.
Transparency and doing what's right for people and our planet are important to us. With our own health journey with autoimmune disease, thyroid issues, and other health concerns, our driving force is creating products that nourish and heal bodies and skin holistically.
As backwards problem solvers and science nerds, we are passionate about formulating skincare and hair care solutions that consumers like yourself need. Beauty does not mean sacrificing your health. Beauty means embracing the true you and uncovering the healthiest version of yourself at all ages. There is absolutely no reason to make any compromises.
OUR REGULATORY STANDARDS
In the USA, regulatory standards are extremely low and almost non-existent. With around 30 ingredients banned and no real guidelines, it is very easy to cut corners.
We have set a strict regulatory standard for our company that is even higher than the E.U. standards, which has banned over 1,300 ingredients. With so many unknown side effects of specific ingredients, why wait to find out if those ingredients will cause us to be sick?
Even as a small operation, we follow our guidelines of using the highest quality ingredients that are third-party organic certified and minimally processed to avoid contamination of harsh chemicals during extractions and processing. We require our sources to provide GC/MS and other analytics to examine the purity of our raw ingredients. Third-party certifiers are contacted to verify certifications. Currently, we perform our own shelf life testing in order to verify that our organic products are safe for consumers to use.
At Roses and Azalea, we pride ourselves in following strict standards and guidelines. Instead of making up our own certifications and giving ourselves a seal of approval, we are committed to verify our processes and products through third-party certifications.
We are currently verified and certified through the following:
Pending B Corps
The B Corp Certification is based on the verified practices and policies of a company over the past year. Only companies that have been in operation for at least twelve months are eligible for this certification. Because our company has been in operation for less than a year, we have pursued their process for early stage companies like ours. We received our Pending B Corp status prior to launching our company on March 23, 2019.
We are currently a Pending B Corps, which means that we have gone through the B Impact Assessment with the B Lab and we meet the legal requirement for certification. We are publicly communicating our commitment to pursuing a full B Corp Certification later on.
Certified B Corporations are business that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive sustainable economy. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.
Our brand, committed to being cruelty-free, started the Leaping Bunny certification August 2019 and received our full certification in November 2019. Roses and Azalea is fully committed to no animal testing. This means that all of our suppliers are verified by us and required to be verified by a third-part certifier. We can stand behind every single raw ingredient we use.
Even though some companies who make "cruelty-free promises" may not test on animals, they may not be committed to verifying that every supplier and source do not test on animals as well.
With the exception of organic beeswax, which we also carefully source, in certain products, many of our products (ones that do not contain organic beeswax) are vegan.
USDA Certified Organic
We do not currently hold the certification for USDA certified organic. However, most of our ingredients do.
Because our operations are still small and the certification goes with the facility rather than the company, we are unable to get certified at this time.
In order to be fully transparent, we do indicate which ingredients we source certified organic on both the ingredient list on the website as well as our product labels. All the organic ingredients are USDA certified organic.
Most of our products are qualified for USDA certified organic - containing 95% or more certified organic raw ingredients with no harmful, toxic ingredient used in our formulations. Most of our products are 99% to 100% certified organic since we believe that using the highest quality and purest ingredients do matter.
