Why use Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient system of healing that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It focuses on prevention of disease and the maintenance of health by creating balance in the body on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Knowledge of Ayurveda allows one to create balance of the mind, body and spirit according to one's unique constitution. Many factors, both internal and external, can disrupt this natural state of balance, which leads to disease in the body. The teachings of Ayurveda help us to gain a greater understanding of the factors that disrupt this natural balance. Once these factors are understood, we can eliminate or minimize the causes of imbalance, bringing the body back to a state of health.

Ayurveda uses several techniques to assess the health of the individual by evaluating the signs and symptoms of disease and their relation to the origin of the imbalance. This is done through questioning, observation and physical examination. There is no one size fits all approach to healing in Ayurveda, rather we look at your unique mind-body type, diet and surrounding environment to assess your needs and identify what is needed to regain health and vitality. Details are important to us - there’s more to just asking if you have recurring headaches or pain in the body. We will ask the location of the pain, if it is stationary or mobile, if it is a dull or sharp pain, and more. Same thing with energy levels - there is a lot of insight as to what time of the day you have lower energy or feel depleted.

Once an assessment has been made, you will be educated on specific dietary, lifestyle and herbal recommendations that will hep bring the body back to a state of balance. Most symptoms and illnesses stem from the gut - our second “brain.” Ayurveda provides a guideline to what foods to eat to bring us back to balance - to correct imbalances due to past habits or use of certain medications, to properly transition between seasons, etc. Instead of focusing on restrictions, you can focus on what to eat while avoiding certain foods that trigger symptoms or illnesses. Proper nutrition is key to many things. And we won’t push many supplements or herbal remedies because that can be too taxing to the liver.

We will teach you more about basic Ayurvedic principles, your daily internal body clock, how changed in the seasons can impact your wellness and to bring you back to balance, and a lot more. Instead of surviving and coping with health symptoms, you will learn how to thrive with specific preventative healthcare and wellness technics/tools you can use for the rest of your life.

If you are feeling stuck and/or overwhelmed and want to improve your health, you’ve come to the right place! Let us be your support system and guide in this health journey.

No! I am not a licensed medical doctor or therapist and cannot diagnose nor treat any medical or mental health conditions. I am legally obligated to say that I cannot replace medical care, mental health care or advice from licensed professionals.

You may see some improvements within a week with small lifestyle and dietary changes.
